Erica L. Mayer, MD, MPH, is director of breast cancer clinical research at the Breast Oncology Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She is also an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.
Dr Mayer received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School, completed a residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She obtained a master's in public health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
Her research focuses on the role of novel therapies in the treatment of breast cancer. She has been published in numerous peer-reviewed publications, including Nature, The Lancet Oncology, the Journal of Clinical Oncology, and the Annals of Oncology. Dr Mayer was awarded the 2023 George P. Canellos Award for Excellence in Clinical Investigation and Patient Care and the 2024 Dana-Farber Innovation Award, and she is a Boston Magazine “Top Doctor.”
Dr Mayer is former associate director of the Dana-Farber Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program, president of the Dana-Farber medical staff, and cochair of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Clinical Faculty Council. She is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, and the Translational Breast Cancer Research Consortium.
